Leh: Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) has carried out a Search & Rescue Operation at Niraq in Zanskar valley at Ladakh and rescued 71 trekkers in the last two days.
The trekkers were on the famous 'Chaddar Trek' when they got stranded due to sudden flooding in the river, IAF spokesperson Gp Capt Anupam Banerjee said.
At a short notice, operation was launched and expeditiously rescued 71 persons to Leh, he added.
Efforts to rescue the remaining persons, which includes 9 French and Chinese nationals at Padum, are continuing in inspite of prevailing adverse weather conditions, the spokesperson said.
Last week, the Army had also launched a multiple Search & Rescue columns of the Fire & Fury Corps and rescued a group of tourists who were stranded in bad weather.
