New Delhi: Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria is embarking on an official visit to Oman to witness the ongoing bilateral Indo-Oman Joint Exercise, “Eastern Bridge” at the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) in Masirah.
This is the fifth edition of Exercise Eastern Bridge.
The IAF MiG-29 UPGs are participating with Hawks, F-16 and Eurofighter Typhoons of the RAFO.
The IAF Chief is scheduled to witness the exercise as well as interact with senior functionaries of the RAFO and all participants of the exercise, an IAF Spokesperson said.
The visit of chief will consolidate the military ties between Oman and India, provide an impetus towards defence cooperation and pave the way for greater interaction between the Air Forces.
For the first time Indian Air Force (IAF) frontline fighter jet MiG 29 will participate in an international exercise outside India commenced on Thursday with the Royal Air Force Oman (RAFO).
The exercise was commenced on October 17 and would conclude on October 26. Last time it was held in 2017 at Jamnagar.
For the first time, MiG-29 fighter aircraft is participating in an International Exercise outside India, an IAF spokesperson had said.
The exercise will enhance inter-operability during mutual operations between the two Air Forces and will provide an opportunity to learn from each other’s best practices.
The participation of Indian Air Force in the exercise will also promote professional interaction, exchange of experience and operational knowledge.
Besides strengthening bilateral relations, it will also provide a good opportunity to the air-warriors to operate in an international environment.
