New Delhi: The chief of defence staff, General Anil Chauhan, attended the Indian Air Force Commanders' Conference at the Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhavan), on Thursday. During his visit, the IAF top brass briefed him about the operational readiness of the service, the Air Force said in a release.
Later, during his address, Gen Chauhan highlighted the need for the Air Force to chart a clear path towards aircraft fleet sustenance, while simultaneously taking steps towards increasing indigenization. He also discussed ways of enhancing integration among the three services and discussed the benefits that would result from the same.
It may be noted that the three services of the Indian armed forces – Army, Navy, and Air Force – are moving towards integrated theatre commands.
The theme of this year’s Indian Air Force Commanders’ Conference, which started on Wednesday and will conclude on Friday, is “Beyond Boundaries: Robust Foundation”. The conference is held every year, which involves discussions on the year gone by and the progress made on the path planned.
The conference, which is also addressed by the Army and the Navy chiefs, also seeks the views of various government bodies and academia.
