New Delhi: The Sarang Helicopter Display Team of the Indian Air Force performed their first practice display on Sunday, after reaching Singapore on February 12, 2024. The team is based at the Changi airbase of the Republic of Singapore Air Force.

The Singapore Airshow will start on Tuesday. The airshow showcases a range of display teams from around the world. It also features leading aircraft and system makers and operators presenting their products.

The Sarang team operates the Dhruv advanced light helicopter, which is manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. This is the first time that the helicopter is taking part in the show. The Sarang team’s first international display was also in Singapore, at the Asian Aerospace Airshow at Changi Exhibition Centre in 2004.

The Sarang team will perform a four-helicopter display for the spectators at the Singapore Airshow this year. The display aims to demonstrate the ALH Dhruv’s agility and manoeuvrability, as well as the high level of skills of the IAF pilots flying these machines.

The ALH and its advanced variants are manufactured indigenously and are operated by all the military services of India. The successful induction and operational use of this platform is one of the shining examples of self-reliance in the country’s defence sector.
