New Delhi: Leading public and private sector lenders and the Indian Army signed an MoU for Agniveers’ salary package on Friday in the national capital in the presence of Adjutant General of Indian Army Lt Gen C Bansi Ponappa.

From Indian Army side, DG (MP & PS) Lt Gen V Sreehari and senior officials from the banks side inked the agreement. A total of 11 banks signed the deal.

The bankers are SBI, PNB, Bank of Baroda, IDBI, ICICI, HDFC, Axis Bank, Yes Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, IDFC First Bank and Bandhan Bank.

These banks will provide banking facilities to Agniveers who are being recruited under Agnipath scheme.

As per the officials, the Agniveers would get same features and offers as that of the Defence Salary Package.

The lenders have also offered to provide soft loans to exiting Agniveers to promote and enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

The first batch of Agniveers under “Agnipath Scheme” will be joining Training Centres by January 2023.
