New Delhi: Indian Army reported two new positive cases of deadly coronavirus, including a doctor of Colonel rank posted at Eastern Command Hospital in Kolkata on Sunday.
Another personnel who was detected positive is a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) deployed at Dehradun in Uttarakhand.
Regarding a report of jawan posted at Srinagar found to be negative.
“They had history of travel in first or second week. They had come to Delhi. Necessary contact tracing was done and identified persons were quarantined,” an Army official said.
The affected persons are keeping good health and stable, the official added.
On Monday, a 34-year-old jawan from Ladakh Scouts was tested positive. The infected Army jawan's father had travelled to Iran for pilgrimage and returned to India on February 27.
The jawan was on casual leave from February 25 to March 1 and rejoined on March 2.
Total number of Covid-19 cases across the globe has crossed 6,83,000 and there have been over 32,139 coronavirus-related deaths so far.
In India, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has crossed 1,000 mark, with 27 people dead till date.
Meanwhile, a nationwide lockdown to check the global pandemic is wreaking havoc on thousands of migrant labourers in the country's metro cities, especially New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown to contain the fast-spread of coronavirus in his televised address to the nation. The number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 979, according to the Union Health Ministry.
