Bikaner: Troops of India and France concluded a 72 hours validation exercise on Tuesday as part of the ongoing bilateral military training exercise ‘Exercise SHAKTI 2019’.
The validation exercise focused on operations in Counter Terrorism environment under the United Nations mandate and culminated with a 36 hours outdoor training in the harsh desert terrain, Rajasthan-based Defence PRO Col Sombit Ghosh said.
The soldiers were self-contained for food and water and finally executed a joint operation to neutralize the terrorist in village hideout.
The exercise was planned to learn about the terrorists’ modus operandi, methods for intelligence acquisition, proficiency in joint planning, surprise and deception measures and waning collateral damage, Col Ghosh added.
The outdoor phase commenced with insertion of a joint team by helicopter for occupation of a covert observation post near the target village.
The Indian and French Contingents worked in a seamless and integrated manner to carryout joint operation including room intervention drill.
Interoperability with the highest professional standards and military ethos was on display by both contingents.
The exercise was commenced on October 31 at Mahajan Firing Range in Bikaner of Rajasthan.
