New Delhi: Acknowledging terror financing watchdog FATF as a key factor, Indian Army Chief General M M Naravane on Thursday said there has been a decline in cross-border terrorism in Kashmir valley of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also mentioned that the Indian Army was continuing its pressure on terror groups, who are trying to sneak into Indian borders. Three terrorists were gunned down in Tral region of Pulwama on Wednesday.
"There are at least 15-20 terrorist camps inside Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) where there are around 250-350 terrorists at any given time and numbers may fluctuate," General Naravane told a group of journalists here.
On Financial Action Task Force (FATF), he said, "If the FATF comes down heavily on them, they may have to do a rethink on their rhetoric and activities. FATF is a factor in the reduction of terror activities in the Kashmir valley."
On the effect of the ongoing Financial Action Task Force plenary in Paris on Pakistan, the Army Chief said, China has also realized that they cannot continue to back their all-weather friend (Pakistan) all the time.
On Tuesday, a sub-group of the FATF recommended continuation of Pakistan in the "Grey List" for its failure to check terror funding in and around its territory.
On Border Action Team (BAT) of Pakistani Army, he said, "We have been getting inputs. We have been able to foil BAT action attempts even before they have been able to launch them."
