New Delhi: The Indian Army Commanders Conference this year will be held from April 17 to April 21. During the conference, the top brass of the Army will take stock of the current and emerging security situation and challenges the force is facing and brainstorm on how to make the force future ready. This will also include finding ways to optimize the administrative aspects of the organization.
The defence minister, Rajnath Singh, will address the conference on April 21.
Agenda of the conference
According to sources in the defence establishment, the top Army brass will review the steps taken for capability development and modernization during the five-day conference. The focus of the discussion will be the Army’s ongoing modernization drive, in which the Army chief, General Manoj Pande, has been pushing for induction of home-grown arms and equipment into the force.
Additionally, the principal staff officers will make presentations on issues concerning intelligence gathering, logistics, operations, postings, promotions, etc.
The commanders will also review the status of the integrated battle groups, which is already delayed due to complexities involved in the process.
