New Delhi: The Indian Army has denied that fresh clashes took place between Indian troops and China’s People’s Liberation Army troops on the line of actual control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. In a late-night X post on Monday, the Army also said the claims were “fake” and no such incident took place.
The Army also requested the public to guard themselves against such “fake messages”.
This came after several X users posted claiming that skirmishes took place between the Army and the PLA in eastern Ladakh’s Burtse area. Some X posts also gave out specific details, like the unit of the Army involved in the alleged incident and the precise location of the clashes.

The Army has taken a serious view of such posts and promptly issued a public statement denying it because of the tense situation prevailing along the LAC. Currently, Indian and Chinese troops are engaged in a bitter stand-off at several points along the LAC in eastern Ladakh following the PLA’s incursion into Indian territory, in 2020, and squatting on patches of Indian land. Things went out of hand in June when troops from both sides engaged in a deadly brawl in June 2020, in which 20 Indian and, at least, four Chinese soldiers were killed.
Apart from the stand-off in the northern sector, the situation is also tense along the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh, in the eastern sector, where aggressive patrolling and posturing of troops from both sides have resulted in serious brawls in recent years without the use of firearms.
