Gurez: Indian Army’s Dawar Battalion on Sunday facilitated airlift of over 160 stranded civilians from Gurez on Sunday. Dawar Battalion comes under the Snow Leopard Brigade of Indian Army.
Priority for evacuation was given to four critically ill patients and students appearing for upcoming semester exams, an Indian Army official said.
The helipad was made operational by Dawar Battalion despite heavy snow cover in record time.
The Indian Army also provided necessary succor and administrative support in the cold weather conditions.
