New Delhi: While referring to Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK), Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Friday said the territory which has been illegally occupied by Pakistan is not controlled by Pakistani establishment, it is controlled by terrorists.
The Indian Army chief said the PoK was actually a terrorist controlled part of Pakistan. He said the complete state of Jammu and Kashmir included PoK, Gilgit and Baltistan.
“Therefore PoK and Gilgit, Baltistan become an occupied territory, a territory which has been illegally occupied by our western neighbour,'' he said.
General Rawat made these observations which delivering the Field Marshal KM Carriapa Memorial lecture. He also released a commemorative postal stamp on “Siachin Warrior.”
Talking about Pakistan’s response over abrogation of Article 370, Gen Rawat said the provision was temporary in nature and it had been amended for twice in the past.
On modernisation of infantry, he said, “Let me assure that the best rifle available in the world, the Sig Sauer from America will be available to the infantry soldiers by the end of this year.”
"I wish to assure you that Indian Army soldiers and in particular the infantry is holding the ground steadfastly teaching the adversary a lesson for every misadventure that they may be attempting to take. The infantry soldier must be trained and empowered for the next generation of warfare that envisages for ourselves," Gen Rawat said.
