Top Army Commanders to meet tomorrow on emerging security challenges

New Delhi: Amid ongoing face-offs between troops of India and China, top Army Commanders will meet on Wednesday to review security situation arising out in the areas of Eastern Ladakh.

The three-day biannual army commanders’ conference that is attended by the army top commanders will begin in New Delhi on May 27. The second phase of the meet will be held in June-end.

The conference was to be held in April but was reportedly postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The Army Commanders' Conference is an apex level biannual event which facilitates conceptual level deliberations culminating in important policy decisions.

“The apex level leadership of Indian Army will brainstorm on current emerging security and administrative challenges and chart the future course for Indian Army,” an Indian Army Spokesperson said.

During the first phase which will be organsied at South Block, various aspects pertaining to operational and administrative issues including studies pertaining to logistics and human resources will be discussed.

Sources said the operational issues at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China and Line of Control with Pakistan are likely to come up for discussion.

A review of the anti-terror operations in Kashmir is also like to be carried out.
