New Delhi: In a joint collaboration, the DRDO and Indian Army designed and developed India’s first Make-in-India 9mm machine pistol ASMI a year ago.
In the recently concluded DefExpo 2022 in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar, the machine pistol ASMI was showcased.
According to media reports, the home ministry and Indian Navy have tested it and found to be advantageous for them.
Amit Shah-headed home ministry want this system for CAPF like CISF, CRPF, ITBP, BSF and SSB. It weighs around 2kg. Private company Lokesh Machine Limited will manufacture these pistols, which costs Rs 50,000 per piece.

It can fire 9 mm ammunition of Indian and NATO version.
The pistol is 383mm long with butt folded and 612mm with an extended one.
It has an 8-inch barrel and 33 rounds of high capacity magazine load.
It is very easier to use, accurate, lightweight, robust, reliable, compact and concealable.
