Shillong: The Union home minister, Amit Shah, marked a significant stride towards digitalization by inaugurating the Cyber Security Operations Centre at the Assam Rifles Headquarters in Laitkor, Shillong, on Thursday. Emphasizing India’s commitment to fostering a cyber-success society, Shah asserted that the Narendra Modi government is resolute in ensuring a secure internet for every citizen, with the prevention of cybercrimes topping its priority list.

Commending the Assam Rifles for their efforts in modernizing operations, Shah underscored the pivotal role of the newly inaugurated Cyber Security Operations Centre. This centre is poised to enhance the force’s cybersecurity framework through real-time network monitoring, external threat mitigation, and prevention of cybersecurity violations within the Assam Rifles Wide Area Network (ARWAN).

Equipped with cutting-edge network and data monitoring devices, the CSOC is geared to provide round-the-clock services. Shah applauded the concerted efforts of the Assam Rifles, acknowledging their role in ensuring seamless and secure digital services within the force.

Distinguishing itself as the first of its kind among central armed police forces (CAPFs), the Cyber Security Operations Centre addresses the escalating cyberthreats facing India’s security networks. In an era marked by heightened cyberattacks, safeguarding against cybersecurity violations has become imperative.

The newly established infrastructure facilitates the integration and management of various aspects associated with such operations.
