BSF troops shot down Pakistani drone in Punjab
Ferozepur: Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday shot down a drone coming in from Pakistan border side in the area near Village Gandu, Kilcha under Ferozepur district in Punjab.
In a statement, the BSF said: the alert soldiers of its 136 Battalion deployed in the border area heard buzzing sound of suspected flying object entering from Pakistan side on November 8 at about 2325 hours. The troops fired at the drone in an attempt to thwart the incursion.
Along with Punjab Police personnel, the BSF carried out search operation after first light in the concerned area, they recovered a Hexa-Copter drone that had been brought down due to firing by BSF troops.

“Area has been cordoned off and Police along with concerned sister agencies informed. Thorough search of the area in under progress,” a BSF official said.
In the last one month, the BSF has shot down Pakistani drones four times along the international border with Pakistan in Punjab.
Prior to this, on October 18, the alert BSF troops had gunned down the drone in Amritsar.
On October 16, a quadcopter carrying about 2.5 kgs of suspected narcotics was later recovered from the incident area.
Another quadcopter Pakistani drone was intercepted on October 13-14, in the Gurdaspur sector of Punjab.
Till date, a total of 24 drones have been shot down and recovered by the BSF in the Punjab sector. 14 of them were this year only.
The BSF had noticed the first drone in August 2019.
According to the officials, the drone intrusions along Pakistan border have posed fresh challenge for security agencies.
