New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) has lodged a strong protest with Border Guard Bangladesh after Bangladeshi smugglers allegedly attacked its personnel at Jalangi border outpost in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.
The BSF personnel was on duty when he saw suspicious movements of two cattle smugglers trying to take cattle. He challenged them to stop but they did not pay any heed, sources in the government said.
In the process, the BSF personnel caught one miscreant but in meantime other smugglers attacked him with lathi on his right hand and managed to escape, the sources added.
The apprehended miscreant has also managed to escape taking the advantage of muddy and high growing Jute crops.
However, the BSF personnel managed to successfully rescue both the cattle from the clutches of smugglers.
The incident happened on July 15.
Later, the injured personnel was diagnosed with a fracture in his right hand finger.
It has been observed that due to ensuing Qurbani Eid, cattle smugglers from Bangladesh are desperately attempting to smuggle cattle by adopting different kinds of modus operandies.
