Giving a boost to Indian Coast Guard (ICG), the Goa Shipyard Ltd on Saturday launched yet another offshore patrol vessel at Panaji in Goa.
Christened Sujeet, Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) Sanjiv Mittal’s wife Seema Mittal launched the vessel.
The first vessel of ship class was launched three months earlier by then defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 21.
The ceremony was attended by coast guard commander (Western Seaboard) additional director general K Natarajan, flag officer Goa area rear admiral Philipose G Pynumootil, director general of Goa police Prabnav Nanda and chairman and managing director of GSL commodore B B Nagpal and various other senior dignitaries.
The ongoing shipbuilding project for five offshore patrol vessels is one of the biggest orders being executed by GSL for the Indian Coast Guard.
