Srinagar: Ajay Kumar Yadav, the inspector general of the Central Reserve Police Force in Jammu & Kashmir’s Srinagar sector, said women personnel of the central armed police force are deployed in various operational roles in the Kashmir valley. Talking to reporters, he said women personnel are deployed for airport security and taking part in cordon and search during counterinsurgency operations.
He also said women personnel in the CRPF are given all opportunities and platforms to work and added that they were providing excellent support to the force.
Talking about the situation in the militancy-hit valley, he said currently things were excellent and expressed hope that the situation will improve further in the coming days. However, he said the CRPF will intensify its operations and will adopt necessary strategies in the valley if the situation demands.
The Kashmir valley has been witnessing a lull in militant activities this year. According to some reports, there are less than 300 militants active in the valley. He also commended the support of the valley’s public, especially the youth for bringing in relative peace in the valley.

However, deadly attacks against security forces in south Kashmir and Jammu, especially in the Pir Panjal and Rajouri regions showed a spike in cross-border infiltration of militants, which resulted in several casualties of Indian security personnel, including Indian Army and J&K Police officers.
The latest such deadly encounter took place in November, in which five Army soldiers, including two officers, were killed in action, as India Sentinels had reported then.
