Aizawl: In a major drug haul in Mizoram, the Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles in a joint operation with the excise & narcotics department, Aizawl recovered 10,000 methamphetamine tablets estimated to be worth ₹33,330,000 in general area Chaltlang, Aizawl, on Friday.
The operation was carried out by the joint team based on specific information.
Based on the information received, a mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) was launched by team at Aizawl’s Chaltlang. The team noticed the movement of the suspected vehicle at around 6.30pm, on Friday. The vehicle was stopped, and a thorough spot checking was carried out. During the checking the meth tablets were found. The consignment of the drugs was seized, and four individuals were taken into custody by the team.
The smuggling of meth tablets has become a major concern in the border states of the northeast, like Mizoram. The Assam Rifles is have been playing a critical role in curbing smuggling activities in the region with some major drug hauls in recent times.
