Annie Abraham to head RAF.
New Delhi: In a first, two women officers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been promoted to the rank of inspector general. The Bihar sector will be headed by Seema Dhundia while Annie Abraham has been posted with the Rapid Action Force (RAF).
It is important to mention that the CRPF began commissioning women into the force in 1987. The RAF was raised in 1992.
“(The) CRPF has a history of empowering its women warriors, holding the distinction of raising the first ever all-Mahila Battalion in the country in 1986. Incidentally, both Seema Dhundia and Annie Abraham were among the first batch of lady officers ever inducted into the force in 1987,” the force said.
He said both the officers had illustrious careers marked with challenging roles, achievements, and laurels.
Seema Dhundia rendered her valuable services to the nation in highly sensitive areas across the country and was actively involved in raising the 2nd Mahila Battalion of the force.

She was also the contingent commander of the first all-female formed police units (FPUs) in the UN Mission in Liberia and had been serving as DIG in the RAF.
Annie Abraham, in addition to commanding all-female FPU in UN Mission in Liberia, had served as DIG Int in Force Hq, as DIG Ops in Kashmir operations sector and as DIG CR & Vigilance.
Both the officers have been awarded President’s Police Medal for distinguished service, Police Medal for meritorious service and Ati Utkrisht Sewa Padak.
