New Delhi: French aerospace major Thales group will display a range of futuristic platforms and equipment, including radars, drones, short range air defence systems and anti-submarine warfare devices, at the 14th edition of Aero India to be held in Karnataka's Bengaluru from February 13.
Among the equipment it will showcase at the event, include SYNAPS A, Sonoflash, Spyranger, and Laser Beam Riding MANPAD.
SYNAPS A
It is a new member of the software-defined radio family designed to support battlespace digitisation, as well as an equipment called Identification Friend or Foe (IFF). The device is built around technologies compliant with the NATO standards.
SYNAPS A provides the high RF performance levels required in the field, including high output power, high sensitivity and SIMO (Dual Rx/Antenna diversity) to extend communication range and spatial coverage. Embedded agile co-site filters facilitate EMC integration and allow simultaneous multi-channel operation.
Sonoflash
The French major would display Sonoflash, a new generation of sonobuoy that strengthens anti-submarine warfare capabilities to support the Indian Navy.
The Sonoflash is unique in that it integrates both low frequency active and passive sonars into a single system. It is 3-4 times as effective in terms of coverage as the Directional Command Activated Sonobuoy System.
Spy’Ranger
Among the drones, it will present Spyranger, counter-UAV solutions that detects, classifies and neutralises micro and mini-drones to protect people, secure critical infrastructure and events.
The Spy’Ranger family of mini UAV systems from Thales heralds a new era in intelligence gathering by forward units and confirms the crucial role of optronics in the collaborative combat of tomorrow.
Large tactical UAVs cannot provide the agility that battlegroups need on the front line or the ability to act at very short notice in fast-moving combat situations.
The Spy'Ranger mini-UAV system brings front-line units an autonomous intelligence gathering and offensive reconnaissance capability, making them much more versatile, better protected and more connected than ever.
Spy'Ranger was designed from the outset as a family of mini-UAV systems to perform a wide range of missions with an optimised logistics footprint. There are currently two members of the family: the Spy'Ranger 330 and the Spy'Ranger 550.
"At Aero India 2023, Thales will exhibit its air defence capacities from sensors to effectors. As a systems integrator, the group will showcase its full range of radars as well as leading very short range air defence systems including Laser Beam Riding MANPAD, among others," it said.
Thales said it will also showcase the best of its "airborne optronics capability: the 2-in-1 targeting and reconnaissance pod TALIOS (Targeting Long-range Identification Optronic System)" that delivers unmatched image quality.
"Under the navigations segment, the TopAxyz inertial navigation system for air, naval and land transport will be featured. Thales covers the entire spectrum of maritime security and naval combat, from the open ocean to the shorelines," it said.
Thales said the Group is positioned across the entire value chain for electronic equipment like radars, sonars, electronic warfare devices and command and combat systems.
In a statement Thales said, at the 14th edition of Aero-India, aimed at supporting the modernization of the Indian Armed Forces it has plans to get all its flagship capabilities including Air, Naval and Land Defence, and Space and Aerospace.
Currently, the Thales Group is working with 75 suppliers and generated over 1900 indirect jobs in the country.
The company has local joint ventures and other partnerships with Bharat Dynamics (BDL) to manufacture 60 per cent of the Laser Beam Riding MANPAD (LBRM) system.
Ashish Saraf, Vice President and Country Director – India, Thales said that the company is eager to pursue its long standing commitment to India and to partner in India’s `Atmanirbhar Bharat’s vision.
