India-China border row: PM Modi, CDS land in Leh to review on-ground situation

Leh: Amid ongoing border standoff between two Asian giants in Eastern Ladakh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi  reached Leh in Ladakh on Friday morning to take stock on prevailing on-ground security situation amid the border skirmish with China.

The prime minister was accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat.

As per the sources in the defence establishment, the prime minister will interact with the soldiers, who got injured in a violent face-off with the Chinese People of Liberation Army (PLA) on June 15.

His meeting with the soldiers will be a morale booster for the forces.

He will also meet Leh-based XIV Corps Commander Lt Gen Harinder Singh and other senior officers of Indian Army.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was scheduled to visit Leh on Friday but he put off his visit on Thursday
