Prayagraj: Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, director general of the National Cadet Corps, visited Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, which was earlier known as Allahabad, on Tuesday, to review NCC activities in the units under the NCC Group Headquarters in the city. Lt Gen Singh was received in the headquarters Major General Vikram Kumar, additional director general, NCC (Directorate), UP, and was briefed by Brigadier, US Kandil, group commander, NCC Prayagraj.
Lt Gen Singh interacted with the officers, staff, associate NCC officers (ANOs) and cadets of various NCC units and further felicitated the high performing ANOs, Cadets and Staff. Lt (Dr) Divya Kumar of 1 UP CTR was awarded DG NCC Commendation Card, and DG NCC Medallion and Appreciation was awarded to other selected ANOs and cadets.
The highlight of the visit was the visit of DG NCC to No. 1 UP Naval NCC Unit which is the only naval unit under the Prayagraj Group. Here Lt Gen Singh took interest in inspecting the models of ships made by the NCC cadets. He lauded the efforts of the cadets and ANOs in preparing these diverse working models.
He was briefed on various facets of naval training imparted to naval NCC cadets by commanding officer of the unit, Captain Vaibhav Tripathi, and its cadets. This included briefing on rowing simulator, ship modelling, seamanship, naval chartwork, etc. Lt Gen Singh was given a live demonstration of the rowing simulator by the young cadets themselves.
An impressed Lt Gen Singh lauded the efforts of the units, cadets, and instructors following his visit.
