New Delhi: The defence secretary, Giridhar Aramane, lauded the National Cadet Corps as a beacon for the country’s youth. He praised their role in fostering excellence and a spirit of national service.
Addressing the cadets at the NCC Republic Day Camp in Delhi Cantonment, on Wednesday, Aramane said, for the country’s youth, NCC cadets stand as inspiring role models who encourage them to strive for greatness in their chosen fields and contribute to building a stronger nation.
He praised the NCC’s philosophy and vision for its transformative power, energizing young minds and shaping them into well-rounded citizens. Reiterating the government’s ambition to expand the NCC, Aramane encouraged participation, highlighting the benefits of being part of the largest uniformed youth organization in the country.

“It is crucial to channel the boundless energy of youth towards constructive pursuits,” the defence secretary emphasized, adding, “The NCC plays a pivotal role in guiding them away from harmful activities and instilling a sense of purpose, encouraging them to contribute towards our nation's economic growth and prosperity.”
He urged the cadets to set ambitious goals and strive for excellence, reminding them that their achievements would propel India towards further heights.
Aramane was treated to a vibrant cultural programme showcasing India’s rich heritage through group dances and ballets performed by the NCC cadets. The themes of “Unity in Diversity”, national unity, scientific temperament, and economic progress were eloquently portrayed through their artistry.
Aramane visited the camp’s “flag area” – a space dedicated to various social awareness initiatives presented through elaborate sand models built by the 17 NCC directorates. He received briefings on the cadets’ “Waste to Wealth” projects, showcasing their commitment to sustainability and resourcefulness.
