New Delhi: China is reported to have carried out a big drill involving its hi-tech drones inside their side of the line of actual control near Arunachal Pradesh. This comes days after Chinese soldiers clashed with Indian soldiers at the Yangtse area in the Tawang sector in the state.

According to an NDTV report showing high-resolution satellite images from Maxar Technologies, China carried out the drone drill from its Bangda airbase in the Tibet Autonomous Region, which is about 150 kilometres northeast of the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh. The report says China deployed its most advanced Guizhou WZ-7 “Soaring Dragon” drone in the exercise. Maxar images also showed the presence of a Chinese variant of Sukhoi-30 aircraft in the base.

It may be recalled that India carried out a command-level air exercise involving IAF’s frontline fighter jets, like the Rafale and the Sukhoi-30MKI, drones, helicopters, and transport aircraft in the eastern sector involving airbases from West Bengal and Assam days after the Tawang clash. China’s drill is seen as their response to India’s action.
