New Delhi: Defence minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting to Moscow from September 3-5 to attend the combined meeting of Defence Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member States in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of victory in the World War II.
The invitation was extended by his Russian counterpart General Shergei Shoigu.
During his visit, the minister is also scheduled to meet Defence Minister General Shoigu to discuss bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest, an official statement said.
India and Russia are privileged strategic partners. The present visit marks one of many high political level interactions, which the two countries engage in regularly, it added.
Last time, he visited Russia on a three-day visit in June to attend a grand victory day parade in Moscow to mark the 75th anniversary of the Second World War.
On September 10, Russia will host SCO Foriegn Minister's meet and India's External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar is expected to visit Russia then.
While the Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that it has received invitation from Russia for the meet, it has not formally announced any development on the departure of the minister to Russia.
