COVID-19: India assures Myanmar of all possible help in mitigating health and economic impact

New Delhi: With an objective to mitigate the health and economic impact of COVID-19 pandemic, India on Thursday assured Myanmar that it will provide all possible support.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with State Counsellor of Myanmar Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and discussed the evolving COVID 19 scenario in the domestic and regional contexts and updated each other on the steps being taken to control the spread of the pandemic.

During their discussion, Mr Modi underlined the importance of Myanmar as a vital pillar of India's Neighbourhood First policy, the Prime Minister Office (PMO) said in a statement.

The prime minister also assured all possible support by for Myanmar citizens present in India and thanked the State Counsellor for the cooperation being extended by Myanmar authorities to Indian citizens in there.

The leaders agreed to remain in touch and work together to address the present and future challenges posed by COVID-19.
