New Delhi: Strongly condemning the dastardly terrorist attack at Kabul University, India on Tuesday called for elimination of terrorism in all its form for durable peace in Afghanistan and the region.
‘‘India strongly condemns the dastardly terrorist attack at Kabul University. India stands in solidarity with those who have lost their sons and daughters in this heinous act,’’ the ministry of external affairs said in a statement.
Education is one of the most important gains of the last 19 years in Afghanistan and must be preserved, it said.
‘‘India salutes the aspirations of Afghan youth in their quest for knowledge, education and peace,’’ the ministry added.
‘‘This inhuman act is a stark reminder that terrorism, in all its forms, must be eliminated for durable peace in Afghanistan and the region,’’ it said.
A group of militants stormed the Kabul University, one of the biggest higher education institutions in the country, on Monday morning after detonating explosive devices.
They entered the university campus and began indiscriminate shooting.
The carnage ended after six hours when all three attackers were killed, according to the Interior Affairs Ministry.
The other 19 victims were mostly students.
This was the second attack on an education institution in the Afghan capital in the last 10 days.
