New Delhi: India and US along with foreign ministers of 5 other countries discussed the responses to combat pandemic novel coronavirus and cooperation in the health sector.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, US Secretary of State Michael R Pompeo, Australian FM Marise Payne, Brazilian FM Ernesto Henrique Fraga Araújo, Israeli FM Israel Katz, Japanese FM Tarō Kōno and South Korean FM Kang Kyung-wha on Monday interacted through a video conference.
Mr Jaishankar, following the meeting, in a tweet said that Conversation covered pandemic response, global health management, medical cooperation, economic recovery and travel norms. Look forward to continuing this engagement.
"Secretary Pompeo and his counterparts discussed the importance of international cooperation, transparency, and accountability in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and in addressing its causes", US State Department said in a statement.
They also discussed collaboration toward preventing future global health crises, reaffirming the importance of the rules-based international order.
Coronavirus which first emerged in Wuhan, China, has killed over 282,000 people globally and has infected more than 4.1 million people.
