New Delhi: The prime minister, Narendra Modi, had a telephone conversation with the president of Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, on Thursday.
In a media release, the foreign ministry said the two leaders reviewed several aspects of the bilateral ties between the two countries, including energy cooperation, trade and investments, defence and security cooperation, and other key areas.
Thursday’s conversation was a follow-up of their meeting in Samarkand during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, the release said. It further said Modi reiterated his call for dialogue and diplomacy as the only way forward to end the Ukraine conflict. It may be recalled that Modi had told Putin on the sidelines of the summit that this was not the era of war.
The prime minister also briefed the Russian president on India’s ongoing presidency of the G20 and highlighted New Delhi’s key priorities. Modi also told Putin that he looked forward to both New Delhi and Moscow working together during India’s chairship of the SCO.
The two leaders agreed to remain in regular touch with each other.
