New Delhi: In keeping with his initiative of forging cooperation and helping international community to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke on telephone with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc and discussed about the present situation and the steps being taken to address the challenge.

“The two leaders agreed on the potential for bilateral collaboration in fighting COVID-19, including for facilitating supplies of required medical equipment,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
They also committed to provide necessary support to each other’s citizens present in their territories.
Both leaders stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between two nations and expressed satisfaction at the recent progress on various fronts.

They also reviewed regional and international developments.
“Both leaders agreed that their teams would remain in touch in the coming days, for coordination on the pandemic response measures as well as other aspects of bilateral relations,” it added.

The prime minister conveyed his best wishes for the health and wellbeing of the Vietnamese people during the present crisis.
Last week, Mr Modi also spoke with his counterparts in Japan Shinzo Abe and Nepal KP Sharma Oli on the same issue.
