Ram Temple construction: India, Bangladesh recognise importance of 'mutual sensitivity', says MEA

New Delhi: After a Bangladesh minister urged New Delhi to avoid actions that could hurts its historic relationship in view of the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said that India and Bangladesh recognise the importance of “mutual sensitivity” in fostering good neighbourly relations.

“We are confident that both sides appreciate, mutual sensitivity and mutual respect in building further on this relationship,” MEA Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said during the virtual weekly press briefing here on Thursday.

India on Monday handed over 10 broad gauge locomotives to Bangladesh. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal had virtually flagged off the locomotives to Bangladesh.

The event was also attended by the minister of state for railways Suresh Angadi. From the Bangladesh end, minister of railway Nurul Islam Sujan and minister of foreign affairs, Dr Abul Kalam Abdul Momen received the locomotives on behalf of the Bangladesh government.
