New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the 100th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Bangladesh on Tuesday via video message.
Mr Modi was scheduled to attend this event but due to Coronavirus outbreak globally, he had cancelled his visit.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is also known as ‘Jatir Pita’ of Bangabandhu.
The event will be without any public gatherings, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
A number of heads of government of different countries, including Prime Minister Modi, were invited to join the March 17 ceremony.
Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla had also visited Dhaka recently to prepare the ground for Mr Modi's visit.
