Jammu: The Jammu & Kashmir administration has terminated six government employees, including five policemen from the state police, due to their alleged involvement in narcoterrorism. The decision was announced by the Union territory’s lieutenant governor, Manoj Sinha, who invoked Article 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution to sack these officials.

Investigations revealed that these employees were part of a narcoterror network orchestrated by Pakistan’s spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), along with terror groups operating from Pakistani soil. Their role in terror financing through sale of narcotic drugs raised serious security concerns, prompting their dismissal.

The president or governor has the authority under the Constitution’s Article 311 (2) (c) to terminate a government employee without following the usual procedure if their retention poses a threat to national security. Authorities told reporters that in this case, the Jammu & Kashmir administration acted swiftly to “safeguard against potential risks”.

This is the latest in a series of measures taken by the Jammu & Kashmir administration to crack down on terror financing and drug trafficking. The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards individuals found to be aiding and abetting anti-national elements.
