Ramnad: Indian Naval Helicopter has intercepted the suspicious Srilankan fibre boat attempting to rendezvous with an Indian fishing trawler within Indian Waters off Dhanushkodi.
“During the Aerial Surveillance sortie by Naval helicopter from Indian Naval Air Station, Ramnad intercepted a Srilankan fibre boat attempting to rendezvous with an Indian fishing trawler within Indian Waters off Dhanushkodi on Saturday,” an Indian Navy official said.
The crew suspected that the boats were engaged in some illegal activities.
Thereafter, Indian Naval Helicopter escorted the suspicious Srilankan boat toward lands end where it was handed over to local authorities for further investigation.
On Sunday, during the interrogation and inquiry by 'Q' Branch CID along with Marine Police and Customs Department, Ramnad, it was found that the apprehended Srilankan boat was illegally carrying 3.5 kg of gold which was confiscated.
