Indian Navy organizes all women Mt Deotibba expedition

After the global circumnavigation by all women officers, the Indian Navy on Monday organized a high altitude expedition to Mount Deotibba (6001 Mtrs) which is located in Himachal Pradesh. Chief of Personnel of Indian Navy Vice Admiral AK Chawla flagged off the expedition here. The 15 women expedition is likely to conclude on June 15. Lieutenant Commander Kokila Sajwan is leading the team which also includes two base camp support staff, the Indian Navy said in a statement. An Indian Navy expedition had summitted Mt Everest in May 2017. The Service had previously launched the first successful expedition to Everest in 1965 and has been to the South & North poles in 2006 and 2008 respectively, it added. Now, with culmination of Sagar-Parikarma, the service seeks to achieve a similar feat on land by organising an ‘All Women Expedition to Mt Deotibba as a launch pad for scaling higher peaks including Everest in near future.
