New Delhi: INS Mormugao, the latest guided-missile destroyer, successfully hit the “bull’s eye” during her maiden BrahMos supersonic cruise missile firing, on Sunday. The ship and her potent weapon are both indigenously made and demonstrates the Navy’s firepower at sea.

INS Mormugao (pennant number D67) is a Visakhapatnam-class hi-tech stealth destroyer, which was commissioned in the Navy in December 2022.

The test-firing of the BrahMos missile from INS Mormugao comes at a time when China has increased its naval activities, including reconnaissance missions and seabed mapping, in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
