Western Fleet commander VAdm DK Tripathi reviews combat readiness, embarks on MH60R helicopter

Mumbai: Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command’s flag officer commanding in chief Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi has reviewed operational and combat readiness of the Western Fleet, under the command of RAdm Vineet McCarty, FOCWF.

During his inspection, VAdm Tripathi witnessed anti-submarine, anti-aircraft, and surface drills, and live firings by multiple platforms in a realistic multi-threat scenario, including air operations from INS Vikramaditya.

He also embarked the newly inducted MH60R helicopter and expressed satisfaction with efforts made for early fleet integration.

India has procured 24 MH-60Rs, equipped with radars and night-vision devices as well as armed with Hellfire missiles, MK-54 torpedoes & precision-kill rockets, under USD 2.13 billion deal inked with the US in February 2020.

He complimented the Western Fleet for readiness to accomplish tasks and missions across the spectrum of operations as envisaged by the Indian Navy towards securing  maritime interests of India.
