JDU demands high-level probe in JNU violence case

New Delhi: Janata Dal United (JDU) on Monday demanded a high-level probe in connection with violence erupted at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Sunday evening.

Terming it as unfortunate and condemnable, JDU’s Youth Wing National President Sanjay Kumar said, “It’s not a good sign for the country. There should be no place for such kind of incidents at the educational institutions.”

Mr Kumar also raised question to University’s administration and said they have failed in discharging their duties.

He suggested the government to set a high-level investigation committee to probe the matter with no side taking.

The JDU leader also demanded to punish the guilty so that incident like this couldn’t be repeated further.

Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chief Swati Maliwal issued summons to the Delhi Police in the matter of.

23 people injured in the violence have been released from AIIMS while some are still undergoing treatment.

The JNU campus is gripped with tension. Heavy police personnel have been deployed outside the campus as tension prevails inside.
