Srinagar: Locals of Vilgam which is a remote location in Kupwara district of north Kashmir celebrated Independence Day with a lot of excitement and zeal today.
The aura around the celebrations was filled with great enthusiasm and vigour, as not only the youth but, elderlies also participated with absolute aplomb.
Celebrations included group dance, solo singing, group songs, regional dance from local boys and girls.
It was heartening to see an enthused 80 year old elder dancing to the tunes of Bhangra.
Locals unfurled the National Flag and all present in the occasion joined in a chorus to sing the National Anthem.
The area reverberated with repeated chants of "Bharat Mata ki Jai".
