Vande Bharat Mission: 6th phase to commence from September 1

New Delhi: Amid the Covid-19 lockdown across the globe, the sixth phase of Vande Bharat Mission will commence from September 1, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) said on Thursday here.

“Phase 6 of VBM is scheduled to begin on 1 September 2020. Based on an assessment of demand by our Missions/Posts abroad, flights are being scheduled by Air India Group and private carriers,” MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said during the virtual weekly press briefing here on Thursday here.

Bubble arrangements with different countries will continue as per schedule in the next phase too, he said.

So far, 12 lakh Indians stranded abroad have been repatriated by different modes under Vande Bharat Mission.

“Phase 5 of this mission will be completed on August 31.

In this phase, around 900 international flights have been operated from 22 different countries reaching 23 airports across India, he said.
