Encounter between security forces and militants in Kupwara (ANI pic)A soldier was martyred and another was injured when militants attacked a patrol party in the woods in the frontier district of Kupwara in Kashmir on Wednesday, official sources said. They said security forces launched a search operation in Kandi forest in Kupwara on Wednesday morning against militants hiding there. However, when the security forces moving deep into forest, militants resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons, source said adding two soldiers were injured. The injured were evacuated to hospital where one of them succumbed. Additional security forces have been rushed from nearby camps to further intensify searches in the woods, they said. However, defence ministry spokesman was not available.
