AP Maheshwari is new CRPF Director General

New Delhi: The government on Monday appointed A P Maheshwari as the new Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), an Appointment Committee of the Cabinet(ACC) notification said here.

Dr Maheshwari, a 1984 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed to the post up to the date of his superannuation ‪on February 28, 2021‬, the Personnel Ministry said in the order.

Prior to this assignment, he was Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Union Home Ministry.

Dr Maheshwari will take charge from ITBP DG S S Deshwal who was given the additional charge of CRPF DG after the superannuation of the then DG R R Bhatnagar ‪on January 31‬ this year.

He  also served as Inspector General in the CRPF in 2014 and as Director General in Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) and had served as Additional DG in Border Security Force (BSF).
