New Delhi: The government on Monday appointed A P Maheshwari as the new Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), an Appointment Committee of the Cabinet(ACC) notification said here.
Dr Maheshwari, a 1984 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed to the post up to the date of his superannuation on February 28, 2021, the Personnel Ministry said in the order.
Prior to this assignment, he was Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Union Home Ministry.
Dr Maheshwari will take charge from ITBP DG S S Deshwal who was given the additional charge of CRPF DG after the superannuation of the then DG R R Bhatnagar on January 31 this year.
He also served as Inspector General in the CRPF in 2014 and as Director General in Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) and had served as Additional DG in Border Security Force (BSF).
