With objectives to provide quality medical care to all Ex-Servicemen and their dependents in the region, Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre on Tuesday inaugurated the first Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic in the remote high altitude area of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.
The ECHS polyclinic in Tawang was a long pending dream of the Ex-Servicemen.
The scheme will provide quality medical care to all Ex-Servicemen and their dependents who could not travel upto the nearest ECHS facilities which were located approximately 350 Km away at Tezpur and Guwahati, Indian Army spokesperson Col Aman Anand said.
The polyclinic would also act as a nodal point for treatment of veterans in the empanelled super specialty hospitals in major cities of the country.
On the occasion, Tezpur-based Gajraj Corps General Officer Commanding Lieutenant General GS Sangha and Ball of Fire Division General Officer Commanding Major General R K Jha were also present along with officials from district administration and large number of Ex-Servicemen of Tawang and adjoining areas.
