Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, said India’s friendship with Russia is deep-rooted and both the countries will continue working together in multiple sectors. After bilateral talks with President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Johannesburg, the prime minister in a tweet said he had "wide-ranging and productive" talks with the Russian president and emphasized on the historical ties and friendship between Russia and India. https://twitter.com/narendramodi/status/1022590514107961344 The prime minister had last met the Russian president during an informal meeting in May in Sochi in Russia. The two leaders also met in China on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Qingdao in June.
In a missive on Twitter, foreign-ministry spokesman Raveesh Kumar wrote: "Never too late! Last bilateral meeting of the day, between PM Narendra Modi & Russian President Putin got over at midnight local time. Both leaders had a comprehensive discussion on bilateral issues of mutual interest, especially in trade and investment, energy, defence and tourism." Modi also held bilateral meetings with President João Lourenço of Angola and also Argentina President Mauricio Macri. "Angola is a valued friend from Africa. My interaction with President João Lourenço was comprehensive. We discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly trade as well as people-to-people ties," Modi tweeted.Never too late! Kumar said both the leaders discussed intensifying relations in trade and investment, agriculture and food processing, pharma, oil and natural gas. "Had a great discussion with President @mauriciomacri. We reviewed the full range of relations between India and Argentina.
