Two of the border guarding forces of the nation, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday got their new Directors General.
Surjeet Singh Deswal on Sunday took charge as the Director General of SSB while Rajni Kant Mishra took over the charge of Director General of BSF, officials said.
Both the senior Indian Police Service officers have served at important posts in the state police and central armed police forces.
Misra, a 1984-batch UP cadre IPS officer was earlier serving as the SSB chief, who will now head the BSF till his superannuation after KK Sharma who retired from the post on Sunday.
Deswal also a 1984 batch Haryana cadre IPS officer will be beheading the SSB upto his superannuation, a government release said.
Deswal, before taking over the charge of DG, SSB, was working as Special Director General BSF.
As Inspector General of Police he held the charge of vast and significant ranges like Ambala and Rohtak.
Deswal has also served as Commissioner of Police of Gurugram for a period of almost 4 years.
