New Delhi: Newly-appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Bipin Rawat on Wednesday called on to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his office in South Block here.
“Newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat called on Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh at South Block today,” the Defence Minister office said in a tweet.
“RM extended his best wishes to General Rawat for a successful tenure ahead,” it added.
Gen Rawat becomes the first CDS after the government gave approval for the creation of the post last week. He demitted his office as the Chief of Army Staff on December 31.
He will function as a single-point adivsor to the government on matters related to the military and will focus on better synergy between the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy.
