Defence Planning Committee deliberates on geo-strategic landscape

The Defence Planning Committee (DPC) in its first meeting on Thursday deliberated upon the geo-strategic landscape and also agreed to chart a time-bound action plan in keeping with its broad mandate.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Besides the three Service Chiefs, the committee comprises of Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra, Expenditure Secretary Ajay Narayan Jha, Foreign Secretary Vijay Keshav Gokhale and Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, Lt Gen Satish Dua, who is also the Member Secretary participated in the meeting, the Defence Ministry said.
The DPC was constituted with keeping in mind about bridging the lacunae between bureaucratic structures and security forces.
The DPC will formulate a definitive defence and national security policy which is imperative for today’s changing security dynamics,
It has four sub-committees which will look into matters of defence diplomacy, defence manufacturing & ecosystem and also defence capability development.
