Government restores ‘ration in kind’ facility to defence officers in peace areas

New Delhi: The government on Tuesday said it has restored the provision of ‘ration in kind’ to military officers in peace areas.
In 2017, this government had withdrawn this facility and it started paying a certain amount instead of the ration to defence personnel.
“The Government of India has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Defence for restoration of the ‘ration in kind’ to the defence officers posted in peace areas,” Defence Ministry Spokesperson Col Aman Anand said.
The decision to withdraw the provision of ‘ration in kind’ had met with criticism from several quarters within the three services of the armed forces.
